The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Barker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Mr. Barker was my principal when I taught at CHHS from 1972 - 1988. He did the video for my wedding on Dec. 26, 1986, and we kept in touch through Christmas cards ever since. I am so sad to learn of his passing. He was always kind, fair, and encouraging. My prayers and condolences go out to the family, several of whom I taught.

Condolence: We had the privilege of working for, working with, and knowing Jim Barker for almost three decades. He was the consummate professional, who always combined his sense of purpose with great compassion. We will certainly miss him but know that the world was better off because of his many contributions.
We want to extend our deepest sympathies and warmest regards to Hisako, Claudia, Kay, David, Owen, Jason and the rest of the family.

Condolence: Sitting here, trying to find the words. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Barker a handful of times. He was very interesting to talk to. It didn't take long to realize what an amazing man he was. Very interesting, kind. It didn't take long to know he was an awesome husband and father. He loved decorating the Christmas tree every year and it was phenomenal. He welcomed my two nephews into his family as if they were his own and helped them tremendously. The world is just not the same. Grateful for the times I did get to spend with him. Rest in Peace. Janice Cox
