Aaron Durham

Aaron Matthew Durham, 12, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Aaron was born on February 21, 2003 in Petersburg, VA and was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Eddie C. Walker. Aaron had a great sense of adventure, he loved life to fullest, especially his family, and was always putting others before himself. He was a 7th grade student at Colonial Heights Middle School where he was a straight A student, a trumpet player in the band, and also played basketball and soccer. He was a KAPS student leader at Tussing Elementary in Colonial Heights where he helped tutor younger students. Aaron was an avid reader and a movie fanatic. He is survived by his loving parents, Jerry "Anthony" and Melissa Durham; his sister and best friend, Anna Durham; paternal grandparents, Jerry Sr. and Joyce Durham of Brunswick, VA; maternal grandmother, Marjorie W. Walker of Church Road, VA; aunt and uncle, Tammy and Chris Crawford of Dinwiddie, VA; three special cousins, Megan, Kensleigh and Caroline; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Middle School, 500 Conduit Rd., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Rev. Johnathan Waits, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of MCV/VCU Medical Center for their love and care shown towards Aaron.
