Alan Alter

Alan Alter, 58, passed away on March 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anneliese Schmidberger Alter, and sister, Lolly Gilmore. Alan is survived by his father, James R. Alter, Sr., his sisters, Lizabeth Alter and Kristine Alter Franchok (Paul Franchok), and his brothers, James Alter (Kathy) and Samuel "Buddy" Alter (Dale). He is also survived by his nieces Michele, Jenny, Tonya, Aliese, Emma, Hannah, Jessy, and Leeanne and his nephews Travis, Lynwood and Jacob. He was grateful for the love and support of his many friends, especially, Cindy Sanford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Virginia or your favorite charity. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with Mr. Mike Farmer officiating.
