SFC Alfred Paige Bethea, Sr., retired U.S. Army, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born in Kentucky on April 10, 1962, and was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Bethea. Mr. Bethea was a retired SFC, having served over twenty years in the United States Army and a Procurement Technician with DeCA , Fort Lee. He is survived by his wife, Rene (Nelson) Bethea; his mother, Betty Ann (Buchanan) Bethea and mother in-law: Betty Ann Cary; son, Alfred Paige Bethea, Jr. daughter, Reona Nelson; three grandchildren, Alajah Bethea, Ajanae Bethea and Journey Bethea; one brother, Terrence Bethea; a sister, Cynthea Bethea; nieces, Sonniqua Henry, Mone (Bethea) and Dermaine Quick, Yashaundra Allen, Jazsmine Benton; a nephew, Undra Bethea and Quiyada Wilkerson-Bethea; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and a host of other family members. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday with full military honors in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
