Alfred Dupont Delano Sr., 78, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Mila, Virginia he was the son of the late Jake and Grace McNeal Delano, and was preceded in death by a brother, Oldham Delano. Mr. Delano was a member of Second Chance Baptist Church, and a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Tarmac with 37 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Doris J. Delano; his children, Sheila Delano of Colonial Heights and Al D. Delano Jr. and wife, Sheri of Moseley; step-children, Monty Burnette and wife, Vicki of Chesterfield, Evelyn Cummins and husband, Ish of Prince George and Joan B. Jackson and husband, Gary of Hampton; grandchildren, Pastor Alan Delano and wife, Alyssa, Sonny Delano, Tristan Delano, Christine Robinson and husband, Jason, Thomas Burnette and his fiancée , Brenna Wolfe, Jessica Costigan and husband, Joseph, Brandie Marshall and husband, Chris, Audrey Holloway and Vaden Holloway Jr. and wife, Stacy; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Delano of Heathsville, Wilson Delano of Reedville and Franklin Delano and wife, Betty of Reedville; sisters, Helen Sampson of Florida and Frances Barr of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather and Pastor Alan Delano officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
