Alice Fowler Cardwell, 88, of Colonial Heights, died peacefully on October 25, 2011, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late George Calvin and Ethel Eudaily Fowler. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wilbur Gordan Cardwell; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Tracy Robertson; son-in-law Howard Robertson; sisters Mildred Ayscue and Ruth Vaughan. Mrs. Cardwell was a retired employee of the City of Colonial Heights in the Commissioner of Revenue's Office, and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she had been active in the Senior Adult Choir. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Calvin Cardwell, wife Carol, Larry Wayne Cardwell, wife Brenda; her daughter, Catherine Robertson Spencer, husband Walter; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Alice Cardwell's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the funeral home.
