Alice Garrett

Alice Kroll Garrett 79, of Chester, departed this life Sunday July 3, 2011 after a brief illness. Alice was born May 29, 1932 to the late George Stanley and Dorothy Payne Kroll. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School, class of 1949. Alice was known for her love of music and family. She cherished the opportunity to serve as pianist for Colonial Height Baptist Church, Highland United Methodist Church and most recently Colonial Heights Church of the Nazarene. Alice is survived by her husband of 55 years Hoke "Dutch" Garrett, two sons, Jay Garrett and wife Judy, Chris Garrett and wife Valerie, one sister Donna Kroll, dear friend Dale Ellis, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 7, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Darwood Rowan and Reverend Mike Lamphire officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday July 6, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
