Alice Viola Ross, 95, of Disputanta, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed over Thursday, June 23, 2011. Alice was a strong, sensitive, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and great-great-great grandmother. She was the widow of Kenneth Ross and the daughter of the late Eldren and Ida Roles. Alice was preceded in death by two sons, Edward (Bill) Jones, and Grady (Buck) Jones; a daughter, Julia Jones; two sisters, Evelyn Shackelford and Mildred Spencer. She was born in Dumfries, Virginia on May 23, 1916 and lived in Virginia most of her life. Mrs. Ross is survived by four daughters, Patricia Sandmeyer and husband, Richard of Gretna, Frankie Mason and husband, Ronald of Manassas, Sandra Terrell and husband, Lee of Eagle Lake, Minnesota and Sharon Daniels of Prince George; seven sons, John Jones of Natural Bridge, Pete Jones and wife, Susan of Prince George, William Jones and wife, Yimme of Korea, Stanley Jones of Prince George, Tom Jones and Andrew Ross of Dinwiddie and Ken S. Ross and wife, Tara of Durham, North Carolina; along with thirty-two grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with Pastor Raleigh Nunnally officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm in the Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U.S. Avenue, Culpeper, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 26 from 4-5:30 at the funeral home.
