Allen R. "Wimpy" Mears Sr., 86, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his residence. Born August 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank Pearce and Maude Stevens Mears and was also preceded in death by his wife, Constance S. Mears and daughter, Sandra Mears Priest. Mr. Mears was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean war. He retired from VEPCO after over 38 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his children, Sheila Miller and husband, Jim of Prince George, Allen R. Mears Jr. and wife, Lisa of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Angel DeSouza (Danny), Lori Cooper and fiancé, Ross, Kyle Mears and wife, Jordan, Derek Mears and fiancé, Estefania; great-grandchildren, Michael, Travis, Lilly and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews. Special recognition goes out to Mr. Willie Ragsdale and friends/staff of Prince George Barbeque, where Mr. Mears would go in to order the "Wimpy Special", which was three scrambled eggs with cheese, crispy bacon, thick grits and brown wheat toast, lightly toasted. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
