Alma Denson

Alma Gravitte Burke Denson, 93, of South Chesterfield passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Vista Park Memory Care of Petersburg. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Eliza Gentry Gravitte. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas J. Burke and James E. Denson and her son, Gerald W. Burke. Mrs. Denson was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield where she was the oldest living member. She retired from Chesterfield County Schools as a cafeteria clerk. She is survived by her son, Thomas Warren Burke Sr. and wife, Judy of South Chesterfield; grandchildren, Thomas and Lisa Burke, Monte and Tracy Burke, Tammy and Jim Hamilton, Shannon Lundie, Chuck and Nancy Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Elliott Burke, James and Rachel Hamilton, Chas Reynolds, C.W. Lundie, and Kaylyn Burke; one great-great grandson, C.W. Lundie III. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, February 8, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard. Mrs. Denson will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons and great-grandsons.
