Andrew Holden

August 9, 1931 — November 9, 2015

SFC Andrew R. Holden (Ret.) U.S. Army, 84, of Prince George, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on August 9, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Flora M. Coolie Holden and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eugenia Tarver and Lois King. He was a member of Livingstone Baptist Church in Dinwiddie and also a member of the Big Brothers of America. Mr. Holden had a distinguished military career as a soldier in the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Belle Schaubhut Holden; daughter, Marcia Vaughan and husband, Ronald of Chester, Virginia; son, Marcus Holden and wife, Lynn of Bristol, Virginia; four grandchildren, Shelley Ezell, Andrew Holden, Cecelia Whiteaker, and Steven Holden; three great-grandchildren, Reganne Ezell, Amelia Holden, and Caleb Whiteaker; little brother, Michael Harris and wife, Meredith; brother, Johnny Ferril; and three sisters, Margaret Carrow, Vernie Dusek, and Zail Furlong; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia with the Reverend Carl Weaver officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park Enon, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
