Andrew York Jr.

Andrew James York, Jr., 71, celebrated his last hurrah here on Earth on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Born in Marysville, California, he was the son of Andrew James York, Sr. and the late Naoma Irene and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Dwight. He moved to the east coast when he joined the United States Army at age 18. Andrew is survived by his wife, Juanita S. York; children, Cindy Y. Rogers (Brian), C. Dawn Gryder (Randy), Roger A. Bowyer (Michelle), Penny Booth (Gary), David Branch (Sharon), Kevin Branch (Traci); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his kitty-boos, Salty and Peppy. He will be remembered for his over the top personality, hurrahs, massive meals, and his love of dancing and music. He was happiest when all of his family was around, but cherished his alone time "drowning worms" at Travis' Pond. We will forever remember him for his handsome smile and beautiful hair. We know you are planning the next hurrah and we look forward to seeing you again one day. Rest in peace, your fight is over. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with the Reverend Jim Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA.
