Anita Furman Clark, 63, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2009 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Horace S. and Mary Claytor Furman. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. She retired as Treasurer and Co Owner of a Property Management Company. Anita had a passion for Missions and lived an active example of Acts 1:8. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." She was very active in Disaster Relief, Missions, and the Red Cross. Her commitment to sharing Christ's love and gospel took her all over the world including: Indonesia, Columbia, Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Grenada, and Costa Rica. Domestically she assisted with relief work in Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Louisiana, and to ground zero in New York during the 9-11 rescue and recovery. More recently she had a burden for the people of Appalachia and worked with projects in Kentucky and West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, B.J. Clark of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Pam Byington and husband, Scott of Apex, North Carolina; a son, Kevin A. Clark and wife, Tracey of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Kayla and Matthew Byington, and Lauren and Ethan Clark; a sister, Peggy Furman Brennan of Colonial Heights; a brother, Horace (Chip) Furman Jr. of Colonial Heights; and a dear friend and "sister-at-heart," Marie Lawrence of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 in Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Avenue, Colonial Heights with the Reverend David M. Prather and the Reverend Fred K. Adkins Jr. officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Flowers are welcome or donations to Immanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
