Ann Bland Cunningham, 93, of Hopewell, Virginia passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at her residence. Ann Cunningham was born in Plain View, VA of King & Queen County on February 16, 1928 to the late Joseph Cleveland Bland & Pattie Grant Bland. In 1942 she moved to “Cedar Heart” in Dinwiddie County, VA., where Ann went to Midway High School at Church Road, VA. After graduating in 1948, she continued her education by attending Smithdeal Massey Business College and graduated in 1949. Mrs. Cunningham is preceded in death by her military husband, SFC David Marvin Cunningham. For the next 22 years, she devoted her life to serving her family as a devoted military wife and mother. In 1966, after returning to her home in Dinwiddie VA, she worked as a Fort Lee Civil Servant, for the next 20 years. In 1981, alongside her husband, Ann helped to start, own and operate their business, known as “The Battery Barn” in Petersburg VA. Ann was also a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, in Dinwiddie VA. for many years. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Jean Stallings of Pasadena MD., Hunter Hamill of Colonial Heights VA. and one brother Joseph G. Bland of Colonial Heights, VA. She is survived by her two brothers, James M. Bland of Dinwiddie VA, and John W. Bland of Petersburg VA. She is also survived by her five children, David M. Cunningham, Jr., Patty Cunningham, Wayne Cunningham and his wife Kim, Kathy Bailey and her husband Charles, Edward Cunningham and his wife Pam; seven grandchildren, Michael Cunningham, Jason Cunningham, Kim Cunningham, Erica Thomasson, Kristen Ashley, Holly Gibbs and Eddie Cunningham, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Wray and Hunter Cunningham. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday November 15, 2021, in the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am- 11:00 am, Monday November 15, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24426 Cox Rd., Petersburg, Virginia 23803 or to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
