Anthony O. Ingle went home to be with the Lord March 7, 2019. He was the son of the late Gilbert M. and Isabell M. Ingle of Washington County, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Christine S. Ingle; his brothers, Howard Ingle, Lloyd Ingle, Hubert Ingle and Malcolm Ingle and a sister, Hazel I. Emory. He is survived by his children, Anthony M. Ingle, Connie Lunsford and her husband, Steve, Bryan Ingle and his wife, Thelma; five grandchildren, Christopher Lunsford, Zachary Ingle, James Ingle, Haley Ingle and Skyler Ingle; great-granddaughter, Isabella Lunsford and a sister, Dora Owens. "Andy" as he was known to family and friends, retired from Allied Chemical in Chester, VA. He spent time volunteering with the Prince George Emergency Crew. He enjoyed sports and was an avid sportsman. As a young man he played league baseball and in high school played baseball and basketball for Greendale High. As an adult he played industrial league basketball and as a friend recently recalled, "he was a fierce competitor." He participated in a local bowling league and was active in industrial league baseball and fast pitch softball. Another sport he enjoyed was playing golf. He also enjoyed camping and took his family to the mountains and the beach giving us many fond memories of our adventures together as a family. His favorite place when not working or playing ball was outside working in his "meticulous" yard. He would plant and care for many beautiful flowering shrubs and flowers over the years. This brought him and his family much enjoyment. Andy was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved us very dearly and we loved him. He had a strong faith in the Lord and served as Deacon at Crowder Memorial Baptist Church. His faith remained strong as the years went by and when he could not be as physically active as he would have liked, he spent his time praying for family and friends. What a wonderful legacy of love and caring for us to treasure. A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Blvd, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with interment to follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
