April Powell

April Anne Powell, 76, of Chester passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. Born June 16, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Janice Lee and Thomas Luther Biggs, Jr., and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Powell.

April worked for John B. Denson D.D.S. as an office manager and dental assistant for many years. An avid gardener, she enjoyed her time spent working on her flowers. She also loved taking care of all kinds of different animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Anne Powell Kiser (Taft Kiser); granddaughter, Rhiannon Ferrell (Victor Ferrell, Jr.); grandsons, Joseph Cree (Julia Elkins), Thomas Cree (Hannah Tippett); great-grandson, Jackson Ferrell; devoted cousin, Phillip Biggs; and other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday night, July 8, 2022 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
