Archie Forrest Baker, 91, of Matoaca, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his residence. Born in Bradley County, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Claude J. and Bessie Forrest Baker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Epps Baker. Mr.Baker attended Matoaca Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, a former Parts Manager of Clayton Oldsmobile in Petersburg, and a retiree from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. He is survived by his wife, Rachel S. Baker; two sons, Thomas R. Baker and wife, Deborah of Halifax and Claude A. Baker and wife, Maria of Matoaca; a daughter, Gloria B. Rose and husband, Bill of Matoaca; two step-daughters, Verna Gail Milton and husband, Donald of Colonial Heights and Jane Murphy and husband, James of Matoaca; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special grandchildren David & Christina Moon; and numerous nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
