Arie Mae Kitchen Haskins, 87, died October 17, 2010 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Virginia. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Colonial Heights. Arie worked 29 years in Banking with the same bank under four different names, and retired in 1986 as Branch Operations Manager of the Boulevard and Temple Avenue branch of Sovran Bank, now Bank of America. She was born June 1923 and raised in Matoaca, Virginia. Arie was preceded in death by her parents Addison Luther and Bessie Ozmore Kitchen, Walter D. and Martha E. Kitchen, who raised her after her mother died; son Hugh Leslie Tipton; two sisters, Alice K. Behrends and Leatrice K. Fastabend; and one brother John A. Kitchen Sr. She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years and caregiver for the past 6 years, James H. "Jim" Haskins; son, Donald E. Tipton and wife, Terry of Jacksonville, Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Shane E. Tipton and wife Marcia of Columbia South Carolina Jennifer T. Epperson and husband, Ricky of Jacksonville Florida; one great grandson Dylan T. Tipton of Columbia South Carolina; sister in-law Marjorie B. Kitchen of Prince George; brother in-law William M. Haskins Sr., daughter in-law, Deborah E. Tipton of Petersburg, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends, who loved her outgoing personality and sweet smile and her beauty. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 21, 2010 in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia with Reverend Tige Newell, Rector of St. Michaels Episcopal Church officiating.
