Arthur Herbert Lau of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence. Born April 19, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, Art was the son of the late August and Leokadia Lau. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Griffith) Lau, a daughter, Leslie Lau, and two brothers, Richard and Hans Lau. Arthur proudly served in the military in Korea, Vietnam and 12 years in Germany in the CIC, as well as various stateside assignments during his 27 years of military service. Art retired from the Army at Fort Lee in 1972 and then the United States Postal Service in 1989. Art was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Chester, Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284, Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles #882, and the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge. He is survived by daughters, Darlene Jacobson of Inverness, Florida, Judith Randolph and husband, Jim of Warfield, Pamela Elmore and husband, Robert of Dinwiddie, and Jeanett Gattis and husband, Chris of Chester; grandchildren, Jimmy, Christine, Robin, Jim, Jason, Herbert, Jon, Chastity, Candice, Adam, Natashia and Erika; 12 great-grandchildren. Special mention in consideration and appreciation from the family to his dear friend and companion, Ms. Sandra. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 13028 Harrowgate Road, Chester, Virginia 23831 with Pastor Richard J. Finck officiating.
