Arthur "Buddy" Emerson Whiting, 61, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Emerson Whiting and Shirley Pack Brier. He retired as the owner-operator of Buddy's Towing for over 32 years and was employed for the past five years with Hydro Water Service. Buddy was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia "Patsy" Whiting of 44 years; a daughter MendyJo Whiting-Slagle and husband, Curtis of Staunton, Virginia; grandchildren, Brad, Matt, Patricia, Charles, Sevyn and Kristyn; sisters, Patty Clark and husband, Vaughan of Colonial Heights and Donna Hogwood of Dinwiddie; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Randy Jones Jr. Bland and Tommy Reekes. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 211 Lynchburg Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Glenda Hollingshead officiating. The family will receive friends with a reception following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church Restoration Fund.
