May 1, 1934 — August 17, 2016

Norman, Audrey Talley Dean, "Peggy", of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully at her home on August 17, 2016. Peggy was born on May 1, 1934 in Petersburg, VA to William H. Talley, Jr. and Audrey Hurt Talley. She was preceded in death by her loving partner of more than 30 years, Nelson ("Randy") Rand; and her first husband, James L. Dean. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia L. Dean; two sons, James L. Dean, III and wife, Wanda and Darrell Nobles and wife, Bernadine; two granddaughters, Jennifer Rohde Elder and husband, Kenny and Kristin Rohde Wears and husband, Jason; five great-grandchildren, Jordan N. Tingley and husband, Cameron, Philip Mayes, Cori Wears, Luke Wears and Logan Wears of Colonial Heights; as well as her brother, William H. Talley, III of Petersburg. Peggy proudly devoted 39 years of service to her family's insurance firm, William H. Talley & Son, Inc. During her time there, she served as a licensed insurance agent, co-owner, corporate secretary and a member of the Board of Directors. In 1999, Peggy retired from the family business to do the things she loved including, traveling and spending time with her family. Retirement brought many joys to Peggy's life, as it allowed her the freedom to watch her family grow and to enjoy the company of her good friends Mary Ann Tyner & Mary Ann Hayden who she considered her sisters. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, Fred & Leslie Parrish and Clint & Patty Holmes. Peggy liked to stay connected to her extended family in Maine and last but never least, to spoil for her favorite poodles, Peaches & Patches. Peggy was a charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Century Hospice, St. Mark's Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
