Barbara Munson Mann, 84, of Matoaca, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born in Dinwiddie County to the late Nicholas B. Munson and Dora Slaughter Munson Kirks. Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her husband of fifty eight years, Samuel "Humpsey" Mann Jr. the love of her life; two sisters, Margaret Munson Armstrong, Mildred Ann Munson; brother, Nicholas Munson Jr.; nephews, Scott Armstrong and Jeffery Smith. Barbara was a faithful member of Matoaca Baptist Church, if you knew her you already know Barbara was very special and was the friend everyone wanted. She is survived by her sister and constant companion, Charlotte "Penny" Munson DeBoer and husband, Jack of Dinwiddie; with no children of her own Barbara cherished and spoiled all of the nieces and nephews who came into the family and wanted them all to be listed in her obituary, Jay DeBoer, Dave DeBoer, Diane DeBoer Corrigan, Tami Armstrong Stout, Billy Ray Robertson, Joy Robertson Nunnally, Sue Smith Marsee, Jim Smith; and her loving in-laws, Rachel and Bobby Smith. A special thank you to Dr. Jay Goldberg, who gave her many hours of his time treating her with the finest of care. We also want to recognize the kindest neighbors in the world Bernice and Richard, Betty and Clyde; they always looked out for her and lent a helping hand, Thank You. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road Matoaca, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery.
