Barbara Sorensen

Barbara Sorensen, 86, of Colonial Heights, went to sleep in death Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Golden Living Battlefield Park Convalescent Center where she has been a resident for 29 years and was loved by all the staff members. She was daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Childress Cox. She is survived by her husband, Harley C. Sorensen; three daughters, Shirley Galyen and husband Michael and Esther Whitebread and husband Gerald of Colonial Heights and Toni Smith of North Chesterfield; three sons, Harley Sorensen Jr. and wife Catherine of Chesterfield, James Sorensen and wife Loretta of Colonial Heights and Michael Sorensen of Texas; a sister, Claudine C. Maywalt of Colonial Heights; a sister-in-law, Esther Joan Kehoe; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Villepigue. A funeral service will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church, 1226 West Roslyn Road, Colonial Heights. Pastor Gene Ballance will officiate. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County. The family will receive friends Sunday 3 to 5:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
