Barbara Jean Wheelhouse

Barbara Jean Wheelhouse, 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Born in South Carolina, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, James “Jimmy” Wheelhouse, Sr.; her father, Elbert N. Clark; brother, Roger E. Clark; and sister, Rachel A Sheffer.

Barbara dedicated several years to her career at Dupont Richmond before transitioning to a fulfilling role as a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Ladies’ Oriental Shrine North America, ACCABA Court #105, Richmond, VA, where she served as the Past High Priestess. She also was a member of Harmony Court #11, Order of the Amaranth, where she served as a Past Royal Matron. Additionally, she proudly served as Worthy Matron of the Chester Chapter #121, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her mother, Carrie Mae Clark; daughter, Jody Hunt (Paul); two granddaughters, Jessica Bailey (David) and Jennifer Barnes (Jonathan); two great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Audrey Barnes; aunt, Mary Walker and several dearly loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
