Beatrice N. Nugent 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away Sunday March 29, 2015. She was born August 10, 1924 to the late William Shelton and Maud Lena Chappell Newsom, and was the widow of James Doyle Nugent. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, William Hunter Banty, and a brother Edgar Lycurcus Newsom. She spent most of her life building a home for her family. Mrs. Nugent was a lifelong member of Matoaca United Methodist Church. Over the years she had many friends through American Legion Post 284 Ladies Auxiliary, the Colonial Heights Senior Center, and years of friendship with neighbors on Wright Avenue. She is survived by "her girls" Deborah Nugent Banty and husband Wayne, Kathy Nugent Talmage and husband Rick, her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly David Richard Talmage, Daniel Nugent Talmage, Katherine Taylor Banty, special niece and nephew, Patsy King Levenson, and William F. King Jr. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 2, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Richard Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. After interment, a reception celebrating her life will be held at Matoaca United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
