Benjamin Brockwell

March 29, 1945 — January 16, 2015

Benjamin F. Brockwell, 69, of Matoaca, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence. Born in Massachusetts, he was the son of the late James T. Brockwell Sr. and Margaret Schenck Brockwell. He was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church, and a retired Chesterfield County teacher with 41 years of service. Mr. Brockwell coached football, soccer, track, and golf. The Thomas Dale Knights won the 2005 State Soccer Championship and the 2009 Football Division 6 State Championship under his leadership. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Collier Brockwell; two sons, Bruce and wife, Celena of Chesterfield and Jason and wife, Yelba of Alexandria; grandchildren, Brycen and Ava of Chesterfield; a brother-in-law, Nathaniel M. "Mac" Collier III and wife, Lu Ann of Sutherland; nephews, Macon and wife Melissa Collier and Phillip and wife Lindsay Collier all of Chesterfield and Barry and wife Melissa Brockwell and Bruce and wife Tammy Brockwell all of Chesterfield; and several great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Ettrick United Methodist Church, 21302 Chesterfield Avenue, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Bob Lamb officiating. Private interment. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at church. The family requests, NO flowers. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ettrick United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2380, Petersburg, Virginia 23804 or Thomas Dale High School Athletics, 3626 W.
