Bennie Foster

Bennie Bruce Foster, 76, passed away on March 15, 2023.  Born on November 2, 1946, in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Bennie Addison Foster and Myrtle Irene Gill.

Bennie was also preceded in death by his son, Kerry W. Lynch, Sr, and his sister, Faye Foster Dolan.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years Patricia Branzelle Foster; their sons, Perry D. Lynch (Sally), Frankie D. Foster (Carol), Bennie G. Foster (Tammy);  grandchildren Ashley  Pelton (James), Michael Lynch (Jessica), Donald Lynch (Katherine), Christopher Lynch (Nikki), and Kerry W. Lynch, Jr; great-grandchildren, Lily, Luke, Trace, Cole, Raelyn, and Donald Jr. Bennie is also  survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bennie was employed at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company until it closed, and then retired from the City of Colonial Heights.  Bennie was what some people would consider as an “old soul”, he loved his family and his home.  He was actually a stepfather to Perry and Kerry, but the word “stepfather” was not in his vocabulary. Bennie enjoyed fishing and hunting with Peter Williams, Bobby Fink, and many other hunting friends and listening to the dogs chase rabbits.  In the early years when times were hard and tight, home was the place to be and he knew every child in the neighborhood as every child played in their yard, even drinking water from the water hose.  Bennie was a kindhearted person and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road S. Prince George, Virginia 23805.
