Bennie Hensley Sr.

Bennie Ralph Hensley, Sr., 66, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Lester W. and Ella Lester Hensley. Mr. Hensley was a retired Electrical Technician with DuPont ICI with 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary M. Hensley; his children, Taylor (Ella) Peters and husband, Frederich of Hopewell, Bennie R. Hensley Jr., Riley (Mark) Hensley and wife, Sherry, and Gerald David Hensley and wife, Brooke all of Dinwiddie; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Pendergrass, Shannon McAllister, Abbey, Ryan, Chris, Gary, Emily, Kasey, and Lila Hensley; one great-grandchild, Dylan Pendergrass; two brothers, Leonard Hensley and wife, Sachie of Nevada, and Carl Hensley of Tennessee; a sister, Alma Jane Hensley of New York; many nieces and nephews, especially, James Robert Estep, Connie Matney, Pam Amburgey, Tammy Sparks, and Kathy Clason. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Joe Elmore and the Reverend Guy Murdock officiating. Committal services will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
