Bernard Samuel Watts, 82, of Colonial Heights passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Colonial Heights Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. A native of South Boston, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Samuel Watts and Vena Louise Powell Watts. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Harvey Watts and a sister Lennie Clements. Mr. Watts was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He retired from the Continental Can Co. Woodlands Division. He was the Production Manager for Continental's sawmill in McKenney, Virginia and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Peggy Brockwell Watts; a daughter, Debra Watts Owens and husband, Brian of Harrisburg North Carolina; step-sons Robert P. Townsend and wife, Jody of Richmond, Kevin S. Townsend of Wilsons, Virginia; sisters Frances Watts Lazenby of Lynchburg, Evelyn Watts Moore of Richmond; granddaughters, Shannon Nicole Owens and Kristin Kelly Owens of Harrisburg, North Carolina; grandsons, Travis B. Townsend of Bremerton, Washington and Brandon S. Townsend of Dinwiddie; great granddaughter, Blakelynne Townsend of Bremerton, Washington with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 24, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Gene Ballance officiating. Burial to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
