Bernell Blackwell

Bernell B. Blackwell, 87, of Colonial Heights, formerly of Chester, passed away Thursday September 26, 2013 at the Dunlop House. She was born November 5, 1924 to the late Frank and Nora Ellis Brockwell, and was the widow of Frank H. Blackwell. Mrs. Blackwell along with her husband were founding members of Colonial Christian Church in Colonial Heights. Both she and her husband were instrumental in providing all of the chandeliers in the church sanctuary. She was a dedicated choir member and involved in all of the women's activities of the church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 in the Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Alan Little officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday at church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Colonial Christian Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
