Bernice Perkinson Schenck, 95, of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at her residence. Born on April 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Bureaugard and Annie Bell Perkinson, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin C. Schenck; son, James Marvin Schenck; grandson, Leslie Schenck, Jr.; brothers, Eddie, Woodrow, Robert and David Perkinson; and sisters, Kathleen Perkinson, Jeanne Joyner and Aurelia Best. Bernice cherished her time with family and friends and loved them all dearly. She is survived by her son Leslie Warren Schenck; daughter, Carol S. Matthews and husband, Luther; sisters, Shirley P. Cimburke, Bettie P. Shelton and Mary P. Chalkley; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Woods United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23803, with the Reverend Joe Carson officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night, October 18, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Woods United Methodist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com
