Bessie Wissinger

Bessie L. Wissinger, 87, of Prince George passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Bruce H. and Laura Blackburn Lawson. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Wissinger a daughter, Deborah Jean Adkins and her sister, Mary Murdock. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Hopewell. Bessie is survived by a son, Robert J. Wissinger and wife, Martina of Prince George; son in-law, Dan L. Adkins of Chesterfield; five grandchildren, Robert J. Wissinger Jr., Adrian Adkins, Charles Wissinger, Tina Thomas, Roy Adkins; nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Michael, Hunter, Robert J. III., Julia, Kyle, Coral, Alex, Evaline; and one sister, Elizabeth L. Gwaltney. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3512 Virginia St., Hopewell, Va., 23860 with the Rev. Kenneth L. Hendricks officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the church from 7-8:30 p.m. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church Hopewell.
