Betsy Perkinson Harris, 84 of Colonial Heights Va. passed away peacefully at her home on February 9th, 2018. Betsy was born in Warren County, North Carolina to Jesse Moore and Thelma Carter Perkinson. She grew up and attended school in Littleton, North Carolina. Betsy loved playing basketball and excelled as a stand out player on the girls' varsity basketball team. Betsy married Willie B. Harris in 1953 and was happily married for 61 years. Betsy was an avid DUKE basketball fan and never missed a televised game. She shared that passion with her beloved Primary Care Physician Dr. Jerome Daniel and Staff to whom she credits along with Dr. Douglas Tyler and the Duke University Oncology team for diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer diagnosed in 2007. Betsy, strong in her unwavering faith was recognized by Doctors, Family and Friends as an absolute miracle for defeating pancreatic cancer over the past 10 years. Betsy worked as a Supervisor at Coburn Optical in Colonial Heights until retirement. She loved being a Grandmother/ Great Grandmother and cherished her time with her Grandchildren. In her retirement years, Betsy spent much time at Greys Point Campgrounds on the Rappahannock River where she enjoyed fishing on the "Betsy Ann" boat named after her. She also enjoyed crabbing, dancing and enjoying a relaxing life with her husband and family. Betsy was a member of Corinth Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her Grandson Jacob B. Harris. She is survived by her sons James (Barbara) Harris of Colonial Heights Va., Jesse Harris of Colonial Heights, Virginia; her loving Daughter Elizabeth H. (Danny)Webb of Chesterfield, Virginia. Her Grand Children; Danielle W. Buscemi (Major Chris Buscemi) of Okinawa, Japan. Jeremy D. Webb of Richmond Va.; Kenneth Edwards of Richmond Va.; Matthew T. Harris of Chesterfield, Va. Lauren H. Newlin (Mike) of Henderson N.C.; and Great Grandchildren; Dominic Buscemi, Matias Buscemi, Will Harris, Madilyn Grace Special Thanks to Tanya Welch, who lovingly cared for her over the past 14 months. Her beloved grand pets; Punkie, Maggie, Roscoe, Kyle and Axel.
