Bettie Jones

Bettie Simmons Jones, 73, of DeWitt passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at her residence. Born April 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Jessie Simmons, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Gordon Jones, Sr.; five brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Jones retired from Ukrop's after many years of service to the company. She is survived by her devoted son, Allen Jones, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Bear; granddaughter, Shay Tench and husband, Robert, and Mckala Bear of Chesterfield; grandsons, Kurt Jones and wife, Ashley, Cody Jones of Dinwiddie, Jon Bear and wife, Desi of New Kent; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Vaughn of Matoaca, Lucille Harris of Macon, GA, Marquitta Christopher of Colonial Heights; one brother, Billy Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 18971 Carson Road, Dinwiddie, VA 23841, with the Reverend Robert Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday night, August 7, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at church.
