Betty Blalock

Betty Jane Boisseau Blalock, 79, of Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Born on September 7, 1938, to the late William Edward and Libby Lawson Boisseau, and was also preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years David M. Blalock, and a brother, William Edward Boisseau III. Betty was a member of Wood's United Methodist Church where she served faithfully for many years engaging in multiple projects to include sewing flags, communion preparation, preparing meals, and other service to the church. She was passionate about giving back to her community throughout her life to include taking an active role in activities for her children and grandchildren which brought her great joy. Also, she served with Phillips Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, caring and dedicated mother and grandmother, faithful sister and friend. She is survived by her children, Eugene Blalock and wife, Beth, Sheree Blalock, Perry Blalock and wife, Lori, Allen Blalock and wife, Becky; eight grandchildren; Willie O'Daire, Josh, John, Serena, Justin, Troy, Dylan, and Noah Blalock; great grandchild, Willow O' Daire; sisters, Anne Shumaker, Carmel Tetrick, Mary Leigh Schrah. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Wood's United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road, South Chesterfield, VA 23803 with the Reverend David Moorefield and Andrew Ware officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night, November 14, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. ln lieu of flowers, contributions may made to Woods United Methodist Church or Phillips Volunteer Fire Department, 10630 River Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23838.
