Betty Groff

September 20, 1942 — March 15, 2020

On March 15, 2020 Betty Lou Cocke Groff went home to be with her Savior.  She was 77 years young and was surrounded by love from her children when she entered her final resting place with the Lord. Betty Lou was born in Danville, Virginia on September 20, 1942 to the late Harry and Katherine Bertha Cocke.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emile Groff; sisters, Jeanette White, Shirley Yeatts and Helen Pleasant and brothers, Frank Cocke and Bobby Cocke.

Betty Lou worked at Connie Hack Buick and Rountree Pontiac. She loved doing accounting work.  Her favorite job was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church and Smyrna Baptist Church.  She loved God and would tell everyone around her about Him.  No one was a stranger.  During her struggle with cancer, she would always tell the people she ran into that God loves you and so do I.  She would thank them for walking this life with her or thank God for putting them in her path.

She is survived by her children, Michael Groff and wife, Regina and Sharon King and husband, Tracy; grandchildren, Nicholas King and wife, Christina, Trevor King and wife, Jamie, Christopher King and wife, Jessica, Megan Hendrick and husband, James and Kerry Groff and Will Rau; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Braxton, Addison, Ryker, Alexis, and Hayden King; sisters, Cathern Wooten and Grace Kendricks and brothers-in-law, Matt Groff,  Joyce, and Ronald Groff and Loretta.
