Humphries, Betty Lou (Bulifant) of Colonial Heights, Virginia, age 75, passed away on March 11, 2015. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia to the late L.W.T. Bulifant and Ethel Mann Bulifant. She was preceded in death by her son, William Numa "Trey" Humphries III, and the love of her life, the Honorable William Numa Humphries, Jr. Betty Lou is survived by her three children, Robert. C. "Chris" Humphries and wife Rae Nunnally of Midlothian, Virginia, Julie Humphries Pond and her husband Doug of South Chesterfield, Virginia, and Heath Patrick Humphries of Chester, Virginia. "Ammy" lives on in her grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Brandon William Pond, Caroline Anne Pond, and Eliza Christian Humphries. She is also survived by her sister, Marie B. Cheeley of Colonial Heights, Virginia, brother-in-law Donald C. Humphries and his wife, Suzanne of Mathews, Virginia, and sister-in-law Sue Carol Humphries of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Betty Lou graduated from Petersburg High School and Mary Washington College. She worked as a laboratory technician at MCV and the old Petersburg General Hospital (SRMC). When her husband was stricken with ALS, she devoted her life to his constant care and comfort until his death. Betty Lou was a life-long member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia. She is deeply remembered by her kind, gentle and compassionate care for others. Truly, Betty Lou shared God's love with others all the days of her life. She loved to dance and sing and enjoyed participating in the Southernaires singing group with her sister, Marie, for many years. The family would like to thank the Staff at Dunlop House and At Home Care Hospice for their care, support, and friendship to Betty Lou and her family. The family extends deep and heartfelt gratitude to Angelene Madison, loving friend and caregiver. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday March 16, 2015 in Highland United Methodist Church 125 E. Westover Avenue Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Mike Tolbert and the Reverend Charles Hammett officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday March 15, 2015 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
