Betty Lemons

December 23, 1935 — July 2, 2016

Betty Jo Mayton Lemons, 80, of Matoaca, VA passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 and went on to join our heavenly Father, and all her loved ones that had gone on before her. Born and raised in McKenney, VA she was the daughter of the late James Edward Mayton and Alice Lewis Mayton Davis; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Hershel D. Lemons. Mrs. Lemons had lived 30 plus years in both Petersburg and Matoaca, VA. She had been a longtime member of Mansons United Methodist Church in McKenney, and had a love for Bluegrass music. Betty was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family and friends were her life. Mrs. Lemons is survived by six loving children, Larry Lemons and wife, Paula, Dianne L. Seargeant and husband, Billy Michael, Delbert Lemons and wife, Michelle, Glenn Lemons, Linda Lemons and Gregory Lemons and wife, Laura; four granddaughters, Jessica Lindenmayer, Rachel Lemons, Stephanie Lemons and Erin Lemons; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Page Lindenmayer; two brothers-in-law, RD Lemons and Doyle Lemons; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Mayton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ettrick- Matoaca Vol. Rescue Squad, 5711 River Road, S. Chesterfield, VA 23803. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com
