Billy Kirkendall

Billy Eugene Kirkendall, 79, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. He was the son of the late John Nathan and Cora Patterson Kirkendall. Mr. Kirkendall attended services of the Colonial Heights Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He was a Procurement Manager for the Department of Defense (Defense General Supply Center), retiring December 31, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Shirley McIntyre Kirkendall; two daughters, Julia Kirkendall Cox and husband, Kirk, and Jeri Kirkendall Bower and husband, Tim; four grandsons, Lane Kirkland Cox, Carter Adkins Cox, Blake Patterson Cox and Cameron Reagan Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Mike Lamphire officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
