Blanche Mitchell

Blanche Lescanec Mitchell, 92, of Hopewell passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mrs. Mitchell, a native of Petersburg, daughter of the late Mark and Kate Lescanec and was the widow of John W Mitchell. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Hopewell; also a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary where she work with the Voice of Democracy. She assisted with Girl Scout badge programs and was a Cub Scout den mother. Survivors include a daughter, Trudy Lee Mitchell of Richmond; a son, Bill Mitchell and wife, Dellie of Greensboro, North Carolina. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, June 3, 2011 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. The procession will leave the funeral home at 12 noon following a horse drawn hearse/carriage to Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, where graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. with Deacon Ed Hanzlik officiating.
