Blanche P. Powell, 90, of Sutherland, Virginia died on November 7, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Richard E. and Carrie Baughan Perkins; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. R. Roland Powell; their daughter, Roberta P. Perdue; and two sisters, Dorothy P. Cannon and Elizabeth P. Hughes. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia P. Johnson and her husband, Jimmy of Sutherland, Rebecca P. Sparrow and her husband, Steve of Rockville, Maryland. She was the grandmother of Allison Johnson Conyers (Brian) of Waterbury, Vermont and Holly L. Johnson, of Dinwiddie; and great-grandchildren, Nathanael Powell Conyers, Kathryn Harding Conyers and Audrey Reeves Conyers all of Waterbury, Vermont. She is survived by J. Douglas Perdue, son-in-law, of Chester and granddaughters, Robin P. Perdue of Utah, and Lauren P. Crosby (Joe) and great-grandson, Elijah J. Crosby, of Chester; a sister, Nora Jane Leake of Louisa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Blanche was a devoted wife and served her Lord and Savior faithfully in every church where her late husband pastored in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. In her later years, she joined Western Heights Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was well known for her delicious pounds cakes!! The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Her celebration of life service will be held at Matoaca Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 with the Rev. Brian Conyers and the Rev. Donnie Joyner, officiating.
