Bobby Johns

Bobby "Bob" Gene Johns, 64, of Bracey, VA, passed away on August 22, 2013 from natural causes. The funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday August 31st at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home located at 3935 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA. Funeral arrangements are being handled by E. Alvin Small Funeral Home. Bob was born in Elwood, Indiana on June 8, 1949. He graduated from Wendell Willkie High School and continued on to receive a Bachelors degree from Ball State University. Bob served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from September 1967 through August 1971. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam and was honored with several medals including the National Defense medal and the Gallantry Cross in recognition for heroic conduct. Bob worked as a hospital administrator at Southside Virginia Training Center for 23 years. He enjoyed hunting and visiting America's national parks. He was also actively involved in Red Cross of Southside Virginia and the Jaycees of Elwood, Indiana. Bob is survived by his sons, Ryan Johns of Richmond, VA, and Ben Johns of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; his mother, Phyllis Johns; his brothers, Mike Johns and Claren Johns of Elwood, Indiana and Milton Johns of Idaho; his sister, Susan Melvin of Elwood, Indiana; and other family and friends.
