Bobby Joe Studdard, 67, of Amelia, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Henry and Ella Strickland Studdard. Mr. Studdard was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon D. Nunnally. He was a retired Sgt. with the United States Army, having served in Vietnam; he was a proud veteran and citizen of his country. Bobby Joe was the love of her life, his wife of 21 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Studdard; a daughter, Kathy Thomas and husband, Tommy of Colonial Heights; step-daughter, Crystal Boyd and husband, Tony; two step-sons, Donald Overman and wife, Kimberly of Richmond, and Phillip Overman of Powhatan; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Little Bobby, Amy, Emily, Brian, Hailey, Jade, Colin, and Phillip, the loves of his life; and dear friends, Junior, Susan, Butch and Zeke. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made in Mr. Studdard's memory to your favorite charity.
