Boyd M. Rhodes

Boyd Rhodes, 80, of Dinwiddie, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Grady Breese Rhodes and Mariella Nicholson Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith Rhodes. He is also preceded in death by his brother G.B., sisters Lois and Lil, and grandson, Jonathan. Mr. Rhodes is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Rhodes of Chesterfield and Charise Joyce of Dinwiddie; two sons, Paul Rhodes (Marlene) of Chesterfield and Robert “Bob” Rhodes of Prince George; four grandsons, Chris, Austin, Logan and Gavin; one great-grandson, Camden; his best friend, Buddy; and many other family and friends. Throughout his life, Boyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and woodworking. He was a hard worker and dedicated family man. He loved coaching youth football in his earlier years and later became a fixture on the sidelines of his children and grandchildren’s’ sporting events. He loved sharing fond memories of his childhood growing up on a farm with his siblings and cousins and sharing stories of his youthful adventures with friends. He lost a huge piece of his heart in 2011, when his beloved wife passed, but prided himself in carrying on some of her traditions, like cooking, making pies for family events, and playing the lottery. Boyd, “Pop”, had a long, fulfilled life and touched the lives of many. He is now at peace and reunited with the love of his life and all the loved ones that preceded him. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Southlawn Memorial Park 1911 Birdsong Road S.
