Brenda Hall

Brenda Bowling Hall, 81, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Born March 14,1940, in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Gladys H. Bowling, and was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Hall; brother, David Bowling; two brothers-in-law, Alvin "Hunka" Hall and Wally Waldron; sister-in-law, Irma Cross; and two nephews, Scott Cross and Jason Bell.

Brenda graduated from Petersburg High School in 1958. She continued to be a part of the Petersburg Graduating Class of 1958 Reunion Committee until her passing. She worked for decades as the Director of the South Side Sheltered Workshop where she assisted and cared for mentally and physically handicapped adults. After retiring, she became an aide for Mandy Hiott, who has cerebral palsy. Brenda was by Mandy's side through her senior year in Colonial Heights High School and two years at Richard Bland College. Then Brenda took time to care for her parents, her son, her husband, and everyone else that she encountered. She was truly a wonderful caregiver all of her life, finding great joy caring for others. Brenda had a deep love for her family and friends.  We are grateful to have had her in our lives.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Hall; daughter, Kimmy Barker (Rob); sister, Rebecca Bowling; brother, Jay Bowling (Donna); sister-in-law, Monica Bowling; three grandsons, Jason Hall (Ashley), Josh Hall (Kim), Adam Barker (Samantha); one great-grandson, Landon and another great grandson on the way; nieces and nephews, David Bowling, Kathy Henry, Warren Bell, Leah Bowling, Betsy Rene Massoud, Chip Hall, Kenny Hall, Becky Windsor and Lundy Cross; many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in laws, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
