Bruce Wayne Butler, 73, of Ford, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born August 30, 1951, he was the son of the late Norris and Francis Butler.

Bruce was a proud graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, better known as Virginia Tech. His education laid the foundation for a successful career in the insurance industry, where he devoted over 45 years as part owner of Butler and Haley Insurance, a business he founded with his brother and a close friend. His unwavering commitment to his work and clients built a foundation of trust and reliability that will be remembered by all who knew him.

A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Bruce channeled his love for racing into sponsorships and partnerships that supported drivers and teams across multiple levels of competition. His journey began as a partner with driver Charlie Patterson and later expanded to include Troy Bailey. Bruce's passion for the sport grew, and he became a proud owner of two Mini Stock cars driven by Brandon Butler and Tommy Buckley. Following this, he joined the Midlothian Ruritan Club and was also a member of the Dinwiddie and Red Oak Ruritan Clubs. Bruce's leadership extended to the Appomattox District, where he served as Zone Governor, District Treasurer, District Lieutenant Governor, and District Governor. His dedication to the Ruritan mission reflected his deep commitment to community service and fellowship.

His unwavering commitment to service shone through in his dedication to organizing an annual golf tournament that directly supported Hunters for the Hungry. This event was more than just a sporting occasion; it was a testament to his generous spirit and his deep-seated desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
