Bunice Johnson

Bunice Thomas Johnson, 78, of Dinwiddie passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She was born May 25, 1942 to the late George Ralph and Missouri Annabella Griffin Thomas and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jay Dee Johnson and brothers, George Franklin Thomas and Marshal Lafayette Thomas.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of Livingstone Baptist Church and retired as a manager with Padow’s Hams and Deli in Colonial Heights.  She is survived by two sons, Jay Dee Johnson Jr. (Darlene) and Brian Douglas Johnson (Sara); grandchildren, Kendall Williams, Kurtis Johnson, Krystal Matlick (Dale), Kaitlyn Morrissette (Chris), Jay Dee Johnson III (Lauren) and Matthew Johnson; great-grandchildren, Daniel Williams, Jaycee, Brantley, Oakley and Maycee Matlick, and Carter and Mallory Morrissette; sister, Betty Thomas Grant and numerous nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Tom Crowder officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Livingstone Baptist Church, 5732 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Funeral arrangements by the Crater Road Chapel of E.
