C. Scott Crostic, 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Henrico Doctors Hospital. He was the son of the late Emmett B. and Emily Birdsong Crostic. Mr. Crostic was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Samuel Crostic, Monroe Crostic, Catherine C. Lucie, William B. Crostic, and Emily C. Rhoads; and a brother-in-law, Frank Fariss. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, and a retired Real Estate Assessor with the State of Virginia. He formerly operated Crostic's Grocery in Colonial Heights with his brother, William for many years, and was a Rental Agent with Whittle & Roper Realtors. He is survived by his wife, Betty Simmons Crostic; a daughter, Deborah Crostic Whittle of Richmond; grandchildren, Joseph Scott Whittle and wife, Jill of Prince George, and Emily Llewellyn Whittle; a great-grandchild, Caroline Crawford Whittle; two sisters, Laura C. Pleasants and husband, Henry of Prince George, and Nell C. Fariss of Colonial Heights; a sister-in-law, Joyce C. Simmons of Colonial Heights; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 in Highland United Methodist Church, 125 E. Westover Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Keith Ritchie, the Reverend William Rawlings, the Reverend Drew Willson and the Reverend Darwood Rowan officiating. Entombment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:00p.m. Sunday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Highland United Methodist Church Building Fund.
