Calvin Blackburn

Calvin Scott Blackburn, 60, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Born October 13, 1961, he was the son of the late Calvin Slate and Mary Frances Blackburn, and was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Blanche Blackburn; maternal grandparents, Burnell and Mattie Wilkinson; sister, Donna Hughes; and nephew, Jeremy Scott.

Calvin worked in the engineering department at John Randolph Medical Center for 34 years. He loved spending time in the shed with his brother-in-law, where many secrets have been shared between the two over the years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy Kay Blackburn; son, Scotty Blackburn; daughter, Jessica Blackburn; two grandchildren, Sydney Blackburn, Aaron O’Dell; sister, Karen Anderson and husband, John; brother Alan Blackburn; special brother-in-law, and keeper of the secrets of the shed, Buddy Haydon; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the funeral home.
