Calvin Cates

Calvin Bryant Cates, 54, of Hopewell, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late William B. Cates. Mr. Cates was a truck driver for Ryder Integrated Logistics, and was a member of the Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles #882. He is survived by his wife, Joan L. Cates; mother, Peggy Marlene Ross; four sons, Matthew Scott Cates, Charles "Chip" Cates, Robert Wayne Headley Jr., Little Clint Headley; two sisters, Linda Cates Williams, and husband Toby, and Cherie Cates Johnson, and husband John; three brothers, Alan Lee Cates, and wife Cheri, Timothy Payton Cates, and John Vance Canady; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882, 235 Franklin St., Petersburg, Va. 23803. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg VA, 23803. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
